The Obstetrical & Gynaecological Society of Malaysia (OGSM) organized the first Malaysian International Scientific Congress of O&G (MISCOG) on 26-29th July 2018 in Kuala Lumpur.
Over 1200 delegates attended from all over the world.
World experts in the O&G sub-specialties came to share their knowledge and expertise.
For the first time PAG was included as a sub-specialty in the Malaysian program.
Professor Sonia Grover from Melbourne, Australia, together with the Malaysian PAG specialists Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ani Amelia Zainuddin, Prof. Dr. Nur Azurah Abdul Ghani, Dr. Lavitha Sivapatham, Dr. Nik Rafiza Nik Affendi and Dr. Anizah Ali, were involved in the 3 PAG sessions. These sessions included ‘Meet the Experts’, a PAG symposium and Prof Sonia Grover gave a plenary lecture. All three sessions were a great success. Despite the first two sessions being held in parallel to other sub-specialty sessions, the lecture rooms were packed to standing room at the back and some could not even get in! This was the first time that PAG sessions were given a place in the OGSM organized congresses thus the positive response from the delegates was exciting and unexpected.
We hope this is the first step to getting PAG formally recognized as a sub-specialty in its own right in Malaysia.
